Dehumanizing attacks against the entire concept of second chances have recently spread, in VA and nationally. Many dog whistle back to ugliest histories and stereotypes, becoming obstacles to reform. We NEED your help to find the resources moving forward. 

A shoestring, a dream, and countless volunteer hours. Not quite, but that has pretty much been our historical budget. Still, we’ve managed to introduce thousands to dozens of great people behind bars and passed major reform legislation that will soon get thousands of families the chance to reunite sooner. Few reform organizations have ever made more of less funding, thanks to incredible people who have given time and energy and our few donors who gave enough to file our paperwork. Money has never been our focus. 

But the strains and constraints continue to grow, even as our mission and dreams have expanded. After all, success breeds not only success but calls for more and greater need, especially with recent policy attacks deliberately relying on reductionist tropes to seek votes via fear. One founder remains behind bars, another is in school full time, and our primary volunteer understandably needs a paying gig. We’ll keep going regardless, but resources would amplify our impact.
